Have you been noticing the "buzz" - ads on television and those new "paid-news" stories on your local television station - about the great new idea banks have for us?
It's ATMs that will dispense bills other than twenties!
Wow, there is no doubt that might be a great convenience, though I think it's stretching a bit to suggest, and one "news" story did, that there's a huge pent-up demand in the world for people who want just one dollar in cash, or who might want exactly (say) $189 and would be unwilling to just withdraw 200.
Anyway, I'm sure we've all dealt, with the nuisance of having only twenties. Now we can get other bills!
The thing about it that makes me chuckle to myself, though, is how this is being billed as an amazing leap of technology that brings more convenience to our lives. The fact is, we HAD ATMs as much as twenty years ago that would give you the amount of cash you wanted (well, maybe they didn't dispense ones). But they disappeared because banks and/or ATM manufacturers wanted to bring more convenience to their lives.
It hasn't been mentioned yet, but I'm sure there will be an extra little fee for those who want to withdraw their own money in multiple denominations of bills.
