Boom! Hardly had the "ink" dried on my last post than we had an update. My wife looked out the window and realized there were no longer five kits and a mom. Now there were NINE kits plus mom.
We know these are four new ones, not just some we hadn't counted before, because these are still taking milk (yes, she is breast feeding in public) whereas the earlier five were weaned at least a week ago.
What puzzles us is how they could be so far behind the others. We're pretty sure that a litter is a litter and isn't divisible, so they must all be born more or less at once. Is it possible that Old Mother Nature, knowing how many were coming, has a way of slowing down the development of some so they don't overtax the femalie's feeding capabilities?
Well, in any case we congratulate and applaud Supermom Fox, but also commiserate with the job of raising nine at once. Wow.
