In various venues lately, Donald Trump has referred to some of the reporting from Charlottesville VA as erroneous or biased. Of course he has!
But his formulation is curious: it's "lying fake news."
Isn't that a bit like a double negative? Wouldn't lying fake news actually be true news? Is it possible that Trump, in his characteristic subtle way, is trying to tell us between the lines, even while casting more red meat to his base, that he knows the reportage is accurate?
